Waterton Park, Alberta Canada

This was quite the adventure for Memorial Weekend! It was quite cold, snow, and rain!

We left Post Falls on Friday and enjoyed the trip up to Bonners Ferry where we stopped at the Kootenai River Inn and Casino. It is a beautiful place with wonderful views of the River and mountains. We had a great lunch at the Springs Restaraunt Rob had a turkey panini and I had the chipolte chicken wrap! Mine was REALLY yummy, and Rob enjoyed his too! We really liked that they have a specific Casino room that is non smoking!  We then headed on up into Canada which there was a TON of construction at the border and made for a long wait. We drove thru to Pincher Creek Alberta which is a gateway to all kinds of camping hiking and lakes in the area.  We had dinner at Luigis which was excellent I had baked lasagna and rob had a chicken burger! He had a local beer call Seelmans Honey Brown and was great and I had a local wine Sawmill CabSauv also very nice!  We stayed the night in the WalMart parking lot just to be able to say we did! :) It POURED rain all night! We got up the next morning and had coffee and breakfast in the WalMart McDonalds! We also had to buy some warmer clothes because it was so wet and cold! We had packed for spring/summer! Once we had on warmer clothes we headed for Waterton Park! It was a gorgeous drive lots of wildlife and mountains!

The Prince of Wales Hotel is not open until June 10th so we were unable to get any inside pictures. Was a big disappointment but the charming village made the trip worth it!

Goats in the Park

Prince of Wales Hotel
The Hotel serves a well known tea from 2-5pm daily. (in the open season)

Mountain views

Waterton Village Waterfront
The little village is very fun! The people are amazingly friendly and happy to share ideas for site seeing etc.
The shops have a variety of local flavor from local artists and mines and is quite an education!

Lakes and Mountains

Cameron Lake

There is a boat ride you can take on the lake that takes you all the way down to Montana as the lake connects to Glacier National Park in the US. It was still a little to cold for my taste to be on a boat ride! :)

We had lunch at the Trappers Mountain Grill! The Onion Garlic Filon Bread with the Buffalo Chili was a perfect lunch! Great service Great food!

Due to the weather we decided to head for home but got to see some amazing things along the way...more to come!
